This training is designed for private sector professionals representing “business” entities needing to interact with public sector and political counterparts and wishing to fine-tune & improve their diplomatic negotiation effectiveness

  • Venue: Brussels, Schuman District
  • Schedule: 09:00 – 17:00
  • Discounts: available for multiple same-session registrations!
  • Price: €640 (VAT incl.)

Why participate?

This 2-day, highly interactive “practical immersion” seminar highlights and increases understanding of political hidden agenda realities within private-sector entities and public sector counterparts when negotiating. The main thrust of the training focuses on meeting the challenges of public-private negotiation and acquiring the appropriate diplomatic influencing and assessment skills required when pure authority is not enough: these abilities will improve participants’ effectiveness in terms of better-adjusted interpersonal skills, combined with an integrated and comprehensive strategic approach which can help resolve complex negotiations and their conflictual deadlocks.

Negotiating cultures between private and public actors can differ hugely: various relationships with constituencies/stakeholders affect management of internal challenges and decision-making processes and ultimately “doing a deal”. To negotiate public-private smoothly, acquiring political acumen with diplomatic savvy is key.

Methodology & Content

The CENAD training methodology is resolutely “practical immersion” and “learning by doing”. Realistic meeting/negotiation simulations highlight and practice the techniques and skills promoting efficient management where specific constraints and inter-professional relations play important roles. All simulations are video-recorded and used selectively in personalised debriefings.

3 CENAD Negotiation Simulations: our interactive teaching methodology means that all participants are encouraged to invest interactively and perform in the simulations as negotiators and/or meeting chairpersons interchangeably. Debriefings – oral and video – further deepen lessons learned by connecting to participants’ “real worlds”, thus enabling “learning for life” through customised visual assessment and expert (and peer) feedback: everyone sees and hears themselves “in action” in a de facto mentoring environment.

Our interactive training brings these added-values

  • Performing in the skin & shoes of negotiation counterparts
  • Silo-busting: exchange ideas and experience with peers
  • Practice diplomatic negotiating and receiving immediate expert feedback and coaching
  • Expansion of professional networks
  • CENAD certificate of attendance upon completion of the training module

What I found the most appropriate is that the theoretical concepts were put into perspective during the debriefings and based on what actually happened during the simulation exercise, creating a great training atmosphere.
Absolutely pertinent to my daily work, video debriefing extremely useful.
This 2-day module was more than just a training but a sequence of personal coaching session. I am much more confident in taking the floor during my meetings.
